Burns Night / Scotish Islands food

Thursday, 25th January

Venue: Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant

Attendence: 18

It was a cold dark night but the food at our favourite restaurant kept us warm and content. The mushroom pie was particularly good.

Hawaii Night

Wednesday, 21st February

Venue: Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant

Attendence: 12

Bright shirts were the order of the night and Bruce served up a treat to combat the dark night. Lots of colour and mixtures of tastes from this far away island

Irish Night

Indonesian Night

Thursday, 5th April

Venue: Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant

Attendence: 13

Fantastic colour and gentle fragrance from a whole range of foods made Indonesian night a bit special. There were some great noodle dishes and an aubergine one that I particularly enjoyed. There is something about the combination of peanut sweetness and chilli hotness favoured by this part of the world that really hits the palette.

Favourite dishes? Well the mini-spring roll starters with the hot dipping sauce seemed to disappear very quickly.

Bob Marley Night

Friday, 11th May

Venue: Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant

Attendence: 18

Our annual event was as popular as ever and Bruce really did us proud with the food on offer. The banana bread was good and the griddle cakes were terrific. I head others comment on the aubergine dish as being their favourite. Ofcourse I saw lots of people diving into the chocolate cake too. I am not sure if that is particularly Caribbean but it rounded off the meal fantastically.

Cypriot Night

Tuesday, 5th June

Venue: Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant

A popular night for us with tastes from the little island in the Med. Cypriot food is influenced by by all the countries around it so it was quiet an eclectic mix of dishes. All was good as usual and a great night was had by all

International Vegan Night

Thursday, 1st November

Venue: Hitchcock's Vegetarian Restaurant

Attendence: 23

Fantastic attendance at our celebration of veganism meal. As usual it was international theme with Bruce cooking all his favourites from around the world. This gives the night a hotch-potch feel with some weird combinations on your plate but it helps you realise how diverse the world's tastes are and how many different types of dishes you can conjure up with some vegetables!
